Private Lakeside Wedding

One of my all time favorites I have had the privilege of photographing is Morgan and Joe’s Private Lakeside Wedding. It was probably one of the most chill, relaxed wedding days I have photographed. These two wanted their day to feel like one big party from start to finish. They wanted to have fun, relax, and actually get to spend tons of time with each other and every one of their guests. The venue was Joe’s parents cabin which happen to be on a lake. Morgan got ready right next door at the house they rented from their neighbor. When I arrived, Joe was hanging out with friends and family, laughing, drinking, throwing a football around on the sand just having a great time. Meanwhile Morgan was calm and relaxed hanging out with her mom and sister while getting her makeup done. I walked back and forth from cabin to cabin capturing all the action. As well as all the incredible decor that Morgan did herself. I could not believe that Morgan made all the floral centerpieces. I asked her who her florist was and it was her!

It was time to say I do. Morgan was escorted down the aisle by both her mom and dad until she got to the edge of the dock where she made her way to Joe who was standing at the end of it holding back tears. It was stunning watching them read their vows out over the water with the sun shining down. It was all the complete opposite from their engagement session which was in the heart of downtown Detroit at the end of Fall.

They chose not to have a bridal party for their Lakeside wedding to make their day feel as much like a weekend at the cabin as possible. So after a lot of mingling we took some stunning couples portraits. We can’t forget about their adorable dog Luna who of course had to make an appearance. When asked what photos were the most important to them. There was no hesitation in saying that I needed to get LOTS of Luna pictures! All I can really say is that I had such an incredible time at Morgan and Joe’s intimate Lakeside wedding. I honestly felt like an invited guest, all of Morgan and Joe’s friends and family made me feel so welcome.

As sunset was fast approaching we knew we had to make it over to Cherry Creek Cellars Vineyard for some epic bride and groom portraits. A five minute drive away they hopped in my car and we made some magic happen as the golden glow set over the vineyard. Some of my absolute favorite images! Doesn’t hurt that the two of them have frequented the vineyard over the years of dating when they would visit the cabin. They even got bottles of their wine for their guests to enjoy at the reception.

If you want your wedding to feel more you don’t be afraid to go outside the box when planning like Morgan and Joe did. Do what makes you happy!
